dancing in the clouds
Have I mentioned how EPIC SugarBowl was on Tuesday?

evaluating two weblog webapps
So I got PersonalBlog and Roller installed on my server. PersonalBlog seems to have problems when I go to edit/add an item, so I haven't dug too far into it yet. Roller seems to have lots more features, but I'm running into issues quickly here as well.
Ekit doesn't run well under Chimera/10.2.3, so I gotta switch to plain text. I wish the Blogger API had smater category support! And I can't seem to import my OPML file from NetNewsWire. :-(
I'll continue to evaluate these two webapps thru the end of the month, then decide which one I want to commit to. Part of the evaluation process will include setting up projects in IDEA and seeing how the code bases are organized.

Not sure if we're out of the woods
Yesterday, I again spoke with Apple support regarding my PowerBook. We tried something different this time: I removed the third-party 256Mb RAM card. At first this appeared to solve the AirPort card problem, but I did spent the rest of yesterday fixing a wierd problem where all the apps wanted to mount something on my server. I had to delete a few prefs files and run disk tools in order to get things back to normal.
Of course, with only 128Mb of RAM, my PowerBook is now DOG slow. I've been trying to process stress the machine, but thru the night, it worked fine. This morning it also seemed to be working fine, until I was using it in my lap for several hours. After installing Java 1.4.1 DP8, I rebooted the machine, and boom the airport card disappeared.
Now my suspicion is that the problem is still there, but with fewer chips and circuitry to heat up, the problem doesn't manifest itself as quickly. I've been running the system since midday, iTunes, EarthBrowser, Timbuktu, Chimera, NetNewsWire, but so far the machine hasn't acted up. So, do I buy an Apple authorized memory card, or get them to send me one as part of the repair process?
