The Whole Earth Review
In a sense, the Whole Earth Catalogs, the CoEvolution
Quarterly, and the
Whole Earth Review
were and are like weblogs, but well before weblogs existed,
and usually involving real things instead of URLs.
The current issue (Winter 2002) has a mini-Whole Earth Catalog
inside.
For example, Kevin Kelly's entry about
Science Toys You Can Make with Your Kids
starts:
The coolest source of educational science demonstrations
I've encountered is this very book-like website written and
run by Simon Field. Field has thirty nifty toys and gadgets ...
Cool stuff.
