2004 Presidential Transition

Andrew Sullivan: "A large part of the pro-Bush vote - especially among blue state residents - was a vote against the left elite and the cultural attitudes it represents in the public imagination. It was a vote not so much for Bush or his often religious policies (or even the war on terror), but against the post 9/11 left, against Michael Moore and political correctness and Susan Sontag and CBS News, among a host of others. I have to say that this was the most appealing thing about George W. Bush for me. If he hadn't so obviously screwed up the Iraq war and endorsed a constitutional amendment against gay rights, I would have succumbed myself."

Jeralyn Merritt writes, on the 5280 Weblog, "Army recuriters in Westminister are frazzled. They are under orders to recruit 14 soldiers a month. That's two a month for each recruiter in the office. It's tough duty."

Here's another story on recruitment from the Rocky Mountain News [November 22, 2004, "Troops feeling strain"].

2008 Presidential Election

Blogs for Bush: "Are you ready for 2008?"

Update: Matthew Gross: "As reported around the blogosphere, Vilsack has pulled his hat out of the ring for consideration as new chair of the DNC. This leaves Howard Dean and Simon Rosenberg of NDN as the grassroots favorites, Jeanne Shaheen as the supposed Kerry pick, and Ickes as a likely Clinton horse."
