A picture named schweitzersmall.jpgDavid Sirota: "The Billings Gazette last week had a short piece about how Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) has been using his office to strengthen hunting/fishing access laws in Montana. I call this the Red-State Conservation Coalition - it is a way to bridge a gap between environmentalists (who demographically lean left) and outdoorsmen (who demographically lean a little right) - and unify them to fight for a common agenda..." Thanks to the Western Democrat for the link.

Oval Office 2008: "It seems like it's been a while since we last heard about Rudy Giuliani's 'golfing' trips in South Carolina. While he's been setting up his law firm offices in Manhattan, John McCain has been on the national stage and has now, according to this story in Capitol Hill newspaper, The Hill, overtaken Giuliani in early polls on 2008. How much can the former New York City Mayor's 'national recognition and stature' compensate for the fact that he no longer holds public office?"

Oval Office 2008: "The hopes of the New York Republican Party of damaging Hillary Clinton's presidential prospects by making her Senate re-election race difficult - or even defeating her - in 2006 are looking fairly grim. The two high profile candidates who might have stood the best chance of beating her - Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki - are not interested in taking her on. Attention then shifted to Richard Nixon's son-in-law, New York lawyer, Ed Cox, who indicated his interest in challenging Hillary. Now, however, the state GOP appears to have come out in favour of Westchester County district attorney Jeanine Pirro."

Oval Office 2008: "Ron Williams at the Wilmington News Journal offers this helpful and interesting potted history of Delaware Senator Joe Biden, following Biden's announcement of his intention to run for president."
