Oval Office 2008: "Indiana Democratic Senator Evan Bayh has somehow managed to become a declared candidate for president without actually making any formal announcement. I noticed a while back that he had stopped making the usual denials of interest in 2008, and now we have him conducting a full interview with the Indianapolis Star about his plans for the presidential campaign that, it would appear, he is engaged in."

Stygius: "Too weird. After stonewalling, and all kinds of parliamentary tactics to undermine it, suddenly Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist announces his support for the stem cell research bill, Specter-Harkin (also, HR 810). New York Times reports. The Bush Administration has opposed such legislation, and it will put the president in a huge bind if it reaches his desk. The motivations for Frist's switch are unclear. I don't know if he's getting back at the White House for something, he grew genuinely disgusted at what he was doing given his past support of such legislation, or if he expects it to linger and die in conference committee."
