Billings Gazette: "Citing the 2004 election of Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean said Tuesday he believes the red Rocky Mountain states are ripe for gain by his party. In a telephone interview, Dean cited the 'strong libertarian' and strong fiscal conservative beliefs of many Rocky Mountain states' residents."

Political Wire: "Virginia Gov. Mark Warner (D) "is trying to make the case that experience with domestic policy can translate into expertise in foreign policy and national security as he meets with Democrats around the country in a prelude to a possible run for president in 2008," The Hill reports. This strategy resembles the approach taken by the only two successful Democratic candidates for president since 1960: Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton."

Blogs for Bush: "As we and other bloggers have extensively demonstrated, there is nothing to the story - Karl Rove didn't 'out' a covert CIA agent, the CIA agent was not covert, no one's career was destroyed (indeed, Wilson made a tidy sum out of the affair...and, of course, no one exposed an Administration lie requiring Rovian retaliation because there was no lie to expose; in fact, the only lies told in the case were told by the man, Wilson, who is said to have exposed lies. Wilson lied about what he found vis a vis Saddam's attempt to obtain uranium in Africa; Wilson actually confirmed Administration assertions, reported as much to the CIA and then went out and lied all about it in the New York Times and in the Senate."

TalkLeft: "Time reporter Matthew Cooper testified for two and one half hours before the grand jury today. He named Karl Rove as his source and said he would write about the details of his testimony in an upcoming Time article. His lawyer handed out copies of a waiver signed by Robert Luskin, Karl Rove's attorney."

Here's an article about Tom Tancredo and the issue of immigration from the Rocky Mountain News [July 13, 2005, "Tancredo brings his message"]. From the article, "During a three-day barnstorming trip, Tancredo, a Littleton Republican, also faced cases of mistaken identity, a mind-numbing schedule of interviews and a swarm of insects that seemed straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Despite all that, Tancredo created a buzz of his own. He got enough standing ovations from hard-core conservative Iowa voters that it should worry any top-tier presidential hopefuls who thought they could get through 2008 without touching the immigration hot-button."
