Political Wire: "'In the wake of terrorist attacks abroad, a procession of potential Democratic presidential candidates" at the DLC conference in Ohio 'raised sharp questions about the Republican leadership's handling of national security,' the New York Times reports."

Political Wire: "'After expressing interest in running for the White House in 2008, Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) said Monday he has no plans to seek the Republican presidential nomination,' Roll Call reports."

The Moderate Voice: "Jane Fonda: The gift that keeps on giving (to Republicans)."

Political Wire: "The Indianapolis Star interviews Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) on his likely White House bid in 2008."

Mike Littwin weighs in on Tom Tancredo in today's Rocky Mountain News [July 26, 2005, "Littwin: Tancredo just playing to his faithful fans"]. Littwin writes, "I'm glad that Tancredo has refused to apologize for what he said about Mecca. He's ready to stand up for what he believes in - like drawing attention. But, what I worry is, it's more serious than that. It's as serious as the person who drove in from Parker for the rally to hold a 'Tancredo for President' sign. It doesn't matter so much whether Tancredo believes everything he says. What matters is all the people out there who do."
