Political Wire: "This month, Democrats and Republicans are flocking to New Hampshire, home of the nation's first primary, in an attempt to garner support for possible 2008 presidential bids, the Manchester Union Leader reports.

"The Concord Monitor says 'the flurry of visits suggests plenty -- that the 2008 races are viewed as open in both parties, that the start of the primary preseason creeps earlier every cycle, that politicians are always eager for free publicity. But most of all, it suggests that would-be candidates respect the primacy of New Hampshire's primary.'

"Visiting Republicans include Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. George Allen (R-VA).

"Democratic hopefuls who have scheduled trips to the Granite State include retired General Wesley Clark, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D), Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), and Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)."

Colorado Luis: "What the immigration debate Is really about ... It isn't about reducing the number of undocumented immigrants in Colorado. The Republicans' election year immigration package in the Colorado legislature (which under the Constitution has no say over immigration matters) consisted almost entirely of bills that singled out immigrants themselves for unfavorable treatment, with the possibility of a lot of collateral damage to citizens and legal immigrants.
