To Da Dump, To Da Dump, To Da Dump Dump Dump

A quick bedtime story...Once upon a time, a family had nothing better to do than to clean up their construction debris laden courtyard. On the first day of their adventure, they loaded up aluminum frame windows and sliders, each opening's corresponding security bars, and some god-awful (but still useful in a Boulevard ranch sort of way) room paneling and sent off the elder ranch-hands to deliver and unload the good. This made the courtyard a little less chaotic, but still left the family with lots of less-useful to anyone crap.

So on day two of this mini-drama, they began to toss as much of the rest of the flotsam into the same truck until they had what soon weighed in as a 1560 pound load of nothing. On this day, 3 generations of family men left on an adventure none had ever undertaken before: a trip to the dump.

After a harrowing drive, monitoring the not-ready-for-freeway-speeds tarp and the cars behind us for swerving motion, we pulled in at the main gate where our host inspected us to make sure we weren't bringing in anything of use. It's a dump...what are they checking for?! We asked directions to the place for our kind of particular dumpage and were directed down a rutted road two miles further into the forbidden zone. We were somewhat at ease to see that other forms of dump-stuff-carriers were coming back down the road, knowing that we probably could have been mistaken for dumpage ourselves at this point in the day. We passed a big huge hole in the ground that was being readied for the crap of the future and wound up backing into an empty spot in line with lots of other crap-dumpers. Then we did the unspeakable...

We dumped our crap wherever we wanted to! In a totally un-PC way, we just started heaving stuff everywhere. It was such a totally guilty pleasure to be able to litter and do it in such a communal way. And boy was that big ol' tractor cool! It just came right by and moved the crap and made room for us to dump even more!! Our glee was punctuated every minute or so by shot-gun blasts that seemed to be from some of our fellow dumpers who had taken the trash party a little too far, but were really intended to scare the hundred thousand or so birds off the pile of potential food source. What a party.

We hated to see it end, but we had spent our load and unless we wanted to offer our services helping others litter, our time was done. Can't wait to do it again (and with the way things still look around Casa Chaos, we'll probably be heading back soon).

What the Hell Is Going On With San Diego Weather?

OK, so it's not like the deadly stuff hitting the rest of the country, but I just walked outside to grab the camera from the hastily disembarked van and it's like a summer night. Pretty strange when it's been pretty darn chilly and rainy this week and I was expecting to shrivel when hitting the night air. Cool and clear night with lots of stars and twinkles to the west.

Oh my god it feels good to write some words.
