If you want to listen, we've got many versions of the whole thing to choose from. All options provide the entire interview. For listening on-line, try the Low-Fi MP3 Streaming version first to share the bandwidth with others...the quality is actually really good. If you've got to have it in Hi-Fi MP3 Streaming, then please do so and enjoy. After an intro playing Creepin' In (Horace Silver's tune) and introductions of Charlie by the bumbling, starstruck DJ, we get into how the new disc Vibes Master came to be, including what he thought of Horace Silver (Creepin' author). Other things like Charlie's current life-gig in Cambria, CA and the jazz series he runs and plays in with wife Sandi.

20030403 - Charlie Shoemake - Part 2 (12:48 minutes)
Coming out of Straight Street, from Charlie's new disc Vibes Master (and not checking the 'continuous play' mode on the CD player...started the next tune when talking with Charlie), we started talking about Sonny Clark and Charlie's first jazz experience in California, at Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse with Sonny on keys. Which led to mentions of San Diegan Mike Wofford (another S. Clark fan we learned), who played with Charlie and was captured on film with him here. After sucking up with kudos for the new disc being on the Jazz Week Chartbound list, we talked a bit about his Jazz education background and his style of teaching which includes learning the solos of the Jazz masters. Charlie took on all questions, even if they were kind of tossed in a haphazard way by this would-be reporter. Lot of fun.
