The New Jazz Thing Is Looking For New Jazz (Blog) Things! The hunt is on for people who are blogging about Jazz, Music, Art, and Radio! Each week on The New Jazz Thing blog (http://TheNewJazzThing.com), I'll be linking to those in the blogging community that are writing about the new Jazz album they heard or bought, something cool and hip (or not) they heard on their favorite Jazz music outlet (broadcast, cable, web, TV), their favorite Jazz album, a review of a show they've seen, or any other such New Things. Each week on The New Jazz Thing, the Live radio show from Jazz 88, KSDS San Diego, 88.3 FM (and now re-streamed at http://KSDS-FM.org) we'd be reading from the blog between cuts of totally fresh New Jazz Musical Things and hopefully talking to a few of the bloggers Live either in studio (for folks local or flush enough to fly in for the gig) or via live phone-in. I want the Live show to be a venue to share all Things Jazz and New. We are going to kick this off this Thursday, April 17, 2003, from 6 to 9 pm PT with a show to honor the re-streaming of the Jazz 88 signal on the web. We'll hopefully be talking to some folks on the show about the how Jazz 88 came to be re-streamed (after a DMCA-induced coma of a year or so...seems much longer), the Abacast technology we are currently using to the get the most from YOUR public radio jazz dollar, and where streaming is from a political standpoint. We are also working on a couple special guests with New Jazz albums out, especially some local San Diegans, some national and international Jazz artists, and any other tidbits we pluck from the http://TNJT.com blog. It's shaping up to be an Extravaganza to launch the new Jazz 88 stream and the beginning of many New Jazz Blog Things! If you want to participate, start by writing on your blog about Jazz, Art, Music, and Radio. In the blog post, either link to the Live show website (http://KSDS-FM.org/NewJazzThing) or directly the The New Jazz Thing blog (http://TheNewJazzThing.com). We'll be tracking the links to those two sites using Technorati watchlists to both sites. Or send email to Vince@TheNewJazzThing.com with a link to your post. We'll link to them from both blogs and pick the best ones for including in the show (either during seques between tunes or as part of a Live interview with you about your writing). One other thing, we'll take Dave's lead and start a directory, available to the world, of folks that are blogging Jazz. Seems like the right thing to do!!
So don't hesistate, start writing those New Jazz Things!! And listen to the Live show this Thursday, April 17, 2003 from 6 to 9 pm PT via the web at http://KSDS-FM.org. |
