U.K. government signs Linux deal [News.com]
It just makes more sense, given a viable alternative, for a government to choose not depend on a piece of expensive software entirely under control of a single foreign corporation. Not too many years ago, Microsoft pinned its long-term growth plans on such markets as China. I'm sure they aren't betting on that very confidently these days.
