Now this looks pretty cool: "Sony's new Clie PEG-UX50 is a Palm computer due in September at $699.99 with WiFi and Bluetooth networking, a 640x480 still/video camera with 3x zoom, built-in MP3 player and voice recorder, keyboard, touch-screen, 29 MBytes of memory and a Memory Stick slot." If you have an iTunes Music Store-capable computer, click here. It will bring up Glory Train from Randy Newman's Faust in iTunes. Don't listen to the 30-second snippet. It's not enough, it leaves out the main point of the song, trust me. Buy the whole thing for 99 cents. The expense won't kill you. Listen to the song a few times. If you don't subsequently buy the entire album, I'll eat my hat. Either that or I'll think you have very questionable taste in popular music. ;)
I was listening to this album on the drive to work on my iPod, and as musical composition, lyric-writing, performance, and orchestration, it's just awesome. James Taylor is God. Other people playing various parts of Newman's faust score include Bonnie Raitt and Linda Ronstadt. Oh, and of course, Newman is the Devil.
Check it out. What's a buck.
