Byron Moreno, the infamous referee of the Italy-Korea game of the Dirty World Cup, has been suspended indefinitely in Ecuador and is being investigated by FIFA. It's a little late. But it does proves my point about How the Dirty World Cup Happened.

As many of you may have heard, a Nigerian woman was recently sentenced to death--for having had a child out of wedlock. Amina Lawal has been sentenced to death by STONING- she is to buried up to her neck in the ground, after which her punishers will surround her and throw rocks at her head until her skull is crushed and she dies a painful and horrible death. She has only thirty days to appeal her trial.

Please go to the Amnesty International site and sign the letter addressed to the President of Nigeria.

It takes only a minute, and could help to save her life, as well as help put an end to this kind of cruel and disgraceful judgement in a country that calls itself a democracy.

Update: I really wanted to post this and contribute to this cause, but I tried to sign up the petition and got:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers

error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Could not allocate space for object 'amina32' in database 'mertonai' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full.

/amina/scripts/submitLetter1.asp, line 69

I could make a joke about how Micro$oft is contributing with this crime, I could make a joke about Amnesty sites using SQL and ASP, but I won't. This is a serious matter and this mistake becomes a serious problem.

Apple's iCal: Why Was This Released? [Dan Gillmor's eJournal]

Why did Dan post this? Twice? Comparing a free calendar program by Apple with, and finding it is not as good as, a part of a 400$ program by Micro$oft is not news. Not by a long shot...Is not even interesting opinion

eWeek: Apple tesing 64-bit IBM GPUL processor [The Macintosh News Network]

Someone has to sit down with me and explain. Weren't PowerPCs already not completely 32-bit? Wasn't that the advantage they had? Some parts of the G4 was even 128-bit? no? Did somebody made that up? I'm sure Apple is moving to different processors, but not before Classic looses relevance...

More Sci- Than Fi, Physicists Create Antimatter. Physicists working in Europe announced they had created atoms made of antimatter, or antiatoms, opening up the possibility of experiments in a realm once reserved for science fiction writers. By Dennis Overbye. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]

My Brother will not see this until this afternoon. I hope he comments on it (He's a physicist). This could be the greatest breakthrough of our time, or the biggest blotching of news reporting in science...

RIM sues Handspring, Good. Research In Motion alleges that Handspring's Treo organizers infringe on a RIM patent and files its fourth suit against upstart competitor Good Technology. [CNET News.com]

Isn't this a sign that RIM lost and Handspring won?

Am I Dad, or a Tutor?. Who decided that parents must oversee every book report, give practice spelling tests and correct long division? By William Sorensen. [New York Times: Opinion]

This issue hit very close to home. My kids can't even find a pencil without their Mom help... How do they do things all day in school? Are they learning?
