On our second day in Madrid (Sunday) we met with Socorro, our nana. She went to Spain with us, but stayed there when we came back. We love her so much. I was about my son's age now when I left. I did went back to see her in 92 (though she doesn't seem to remember).
While the rest of the family went to El Rastro, Madrid famous market, the four of us plus my nephew took the subway to the Reina Sofia Museum, home of the Guernica. The Guernica is perhaps Picasso's greatest work. It was painted at a time of suffering and Pain for Spain. The town of Guernica was bombed by the Nazis who were helping the Spanish fascists. No pictures are permitted at the Museum. It is a great Museum in any other city it would be amazing, but Madrid has so much to offer.
We went to El Gran Barril to celebrate my Mother's 80th birthday. We had a grand time there. Here are the rest of the photos.
