Infosys Technologies recently announced the creation of a wholly-owned US-based subsidiary, Infosys Consulting. The new company, which will focus on delivering high value business/technology consulting, will be headquartered in Fremont, CA. It will be headed by former Deloitte partner Stephen Pratt and three other heavy hitters from the high-end consultant ranks. Infosys, like its Indian competitors, has long coveted a position in the top ranks of the global IT services world. In a traditional network outsourcing model, ownership of the wide area networking (WAN) assets and staff are transferred to the outsourcer. MNS are a form of outsourcing under which enterprises transfer the management and operation of some or all of their WAN equipment (routers, switches, hubs and servers) and network services to a vendor specializing in this area. C|net, 4/20/04: New Phatbot worm may be on the loose

A new variant of the Phatbot worm may be on the loose and attempting to attack SQL Server ports, according to a warning the SANS Institute issued Monday.
Last month, Phatbot made the rounds, attacking Windows systems by acting as a Trojan horse. Phatbot would then link infected computers into an underground network for sending spam or launching other attacks. SANS is currently in the process of attempting to capture a full packet of data--or an executable file--for further analysis of Phatbot.
The worm probes Transmission Control Protocol ports 2745, 1025, 3127, 6129, 5000, 80 and 1433, as well as Microsoft's NetBIOS, according to the SANS report.

Internet.com, 4/20/04: Worm Ends Antivirus Programs, Firewall Processes
Zafi.A is a new worm that ends processes belonging to antivirus programs and firewalls, among others, according to various security vendors that issued alerts Monday. This leaves the affected computer vulnerable to the attack of other malware.
