Flames Bursting Onstage, Showers for the Audience. Plenty of bands have drawn from both grunge and traditional hard rock, but Nickelback's style is reductio ad absurdum. By Kelefa Sanneh. [New York Times: Arts]'
Nickelback is a hard rock band that could be a practical joke. The members come from Canada; their live show is enhanced with flames and explosions; and [~] the most obvious clue [~] the bass player wears a cowboy hat.
But if this is a joke, the group never acknowledges it. Quite the opposite.' Ouch! I kinda like a tune or two I've heard from them but I have to say that when I see them on screen I keep waiting for one of them to smile. Not to acknowledge a joke but just to stop looking like they take themselves too seriously. No sense of humour is always a bad sign. It's as thought they're scared to death we're about to see through them.

One step at a time. [Scripting News]Dave's back! That's great news Now take it easy dude.
