Documenting a switch from Windows to Mac. I've Switched from Windows, Now What?. It's one thing to switch from Windows to Mac OS X in your spare time; it's another to do it on the job ... especially when you're a full-time Web producer. Here's the first installment by Terrie Miller who's documenting her switch to Mac OS X. No safety net required. [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service]

I offer the link to this story because of some of the useful keyboard navigation and shortcuts information that can come in handy for long time OS X users as well as newcomers. [Rob McNair-Huff: OS X 10.1.4]

German soccer fans celebrate: "A few rambunctious German fans drove triumphantly through Toronto's Little Korea neighbourhood with flags hanging from their cars and their horns competing with the Korean fans' final street party."

I missed this as I was at work. Glad to hear there was some action.

Tuesday: Boring People. Saying blogs are uninteresting is like saying people are uninteresting. You can't say that all people are, just some (maybe a lot). I've met a fair number of dull, self-absorbed people, but most people have stories about themselves and the world, and most people have interesting, sometimes terrifying stories to tell. Mike Cassidy needs to stop monolithicizing ... [GlennLog]

Fiddling while the Middle East burns. Bush's one-sided speech is just the latest chapter in a long history of U.S. ignorance, ill will and condescension toward the Palestinians -- and it's not going to help Israel, either. [Salon.com]

WorldCom confirms $3.8 billion US accounting scandal: could be biggest fraud ever

MacHack: The Ghost of Macintosh Future (24-Jun-2002; 10.1K) [TidBITS]'[A] large number of first timers helped to swell the ranks to a total of about 270 attendees. A good number of these folks were Unix users, and although Mac OS X's impact on the overall base of Mac users is still in an early phase, it's clear that within a few years, the migration of Unix and Windows users to the Mac will make the Mac community significantly more diverse.'
A fun read about a cool event.

Tools We Use: URL Manager Pro (24-Jun-2002; 5.5K) [TidBITS]
I used to use WebQuick. It was a fabulous tool from the people who developed Now Utilities. Sadly the coders went off in a different direction and abandoned the product. I should probably have another look at URL Manager Pro.
