It looks like Prime Minister Jean Chrétien’s remarks concerning September 11th have raised Canada’s profile in the blogosphere.

I don’t think that the difference in wealth caused the September 11th attacks (bin Laden was a multi-millionaire due to his family’s construction wealth). However, the difference in wealth between the West and the poorer parts of the world, can lead to the people of those nations caring less about the attacks and their human toll and doing less to prevent them.

The solution is to help them get richer, not make us poorer.

Remember that calling Chrétien a liberal isn’t going to hurt him much. Furthermore attacking him by saying that the Liberal party was elected with less than 50% of the vote is somewhat odd, not only did President George W. Bush get less than 50% of the vote, he didn’t even get the most votes.
