With the Vivendi Universal media empire on shaky financial ground spin-offs or sales of some of its assets such as Houghton Mifflin, the publisher of Lord of the Rings books is expected. One asset of interest is the video game business, which includes Blizzard, the ultra-successful publisher of the Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft games. CBS Marketwatch reports that an IPO or partial sell off of the unit may occur.

Microsoft just bought Rare a producer of Nintendo games might they want to buy Blizzard and have it produce exclusive X-Box and Windows titles?

Update (Nov 21/02): On Sept 27 I linked to a story that said V. had no plans to sell Blizzard.

September 17th’s Fox-National Geographic special found a door (or wall) beyond the door at the end of the southern shaft from the Great Pyramid’s Queen’s Chamber. A similar northern shaft also exists. The exploration team was just announced that at the end of this shaft is a similar door.

I know – these shafts are to hold really large bundles of CAT5 cables.
