Slashdot on Esstential Blogging: 3/10

So far no comments by Dave Winer on the negative Slashdot review and general hostile reaction to the O’Reilly book Essential Blogging. Most of the comments suggest that the topic is too simple to be worthy of an O’Reilly book. This suggests that either:

  1. Blogging (including the use of Userland’s Radio software) is so simple books to explain it is not needed.
  2. People do not understand that these products contain advanced features that are not immediately obvious.

If the latter issue is the case then the people making this software have more work to do.

Damian Penny covers the Rick Salutin piece in the Globe and Mail on the Montreal riot. As expected he blames Israel, Jewish media owners and defends the "overmatched" Palestinians.

I doubt the Palestinians that blow up pizzerias are very "overmatched" when you compare their ability to kill versus the people eating pizza.

Also in the crosshairs is Montreal "social activist" Jaggi Singh who wrote that the Montreal riot was called by Netanyahu's mere attempted presence and that presence was an offense that must be prevented.

In the name free speech, of course.

A US military tribunal has recommended that F-16 pilot who accidentally bombed and killed four Canadian troops in Afghanistan be charged with involuntary manslaughter, and his senior commander and wingman with aiding and abetting.

Flit (via Instapundit) has many details on the background to the bombing.
