Bell Canada is installing public Wi-Fi hotspots in areas such as train stations and airports. Access to these nodes will be free until April 2003. (Via Slashdot)

Locations in Toronto are:

  • Union Station (one just outside Harvey's and the second down the Via Train ticket corridor)
  • Panorama Lounge Union Station Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge
  • Pearson International Airport, Terminal 2
  • Coming soon: Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital

The Globe and Mail newspaper (which happens to be owned by Bell Canada) has a story on this rollout, as does the Toronto Star.

Meanwhile, Bell is investing in more wireless research.
