Having been named CEO of the year by various organizations, Paul Tellier is leaving on a high note as he has resigned as president and chief executive of Canadian National Railway Co. to take over the CEO position at Bombardier Inc. The Globe and Mail examines the potential impact of Tivo and other personal video recorders (PVRs) on television show ad revenues. For now the impact is considered to be minimal due to slow sales. The article has good news for Canadian cable subscribers waiting for PVRs in Canada. It states that: Rogers has been quietly testing its own PVR in Canada in advance of an expected launch in 2003. "What we've been struggling with is it's very expensive for customers," Mr. Lee [vice-president of product development at Rogers Cable] says. Rogers has not set the price of its PVR, but getting it below $200 — a psychologically important level for many consumers — "is at least a couple of years out."
