Alwin Hawkins: "Regarding yesterday's Constitutional law question, Commander Dave offered this response. But Seth, who still hangs out in the hallowed halls of academia, says that it only protects us from government actions. Crap."
Double crap - I loved Alwin's perspective and still think it has merit (even if not based in the Constitution). Our computers are personal property and the Government, if it passed the law allowing Hollywood hacking, would be a party to our rights being violated. In effect, the Government would be taking actions that would give corporations government-like power...

A little followup on a post from yesterday - on some days (at certain times), SpamNet ends up not blocking as many messages for me. I had to block (i.e., report) about 12 of them early this morning. My guess is that's because the spammers keep using new forged return addresses and the messages are getting through because other SpamNet users have the sense to not get up and check their email at 5 a.m. like I did this morning, leaving me to be the first recipient of some of the messages in yet another new batch of newly forged, not-so-tasty spam. That doesn't change my opinion of the software - I still think it rocks and it feels good to be able to do something for the other users (as they do for me).
