Gates' India trip backfires: "At the time, His Billness was rightly nailed for cynically exploiting a largely manufactured AIDS 'crises' on the subcontinent -- coincidental with his flying counterstrike against the Indian government's earlier declaration to employ Linux throughout its offices and in education." [Universal Rule via Google Technology News]
Back on November 12th, I said "Good for the people that will benefit from Gates' personal pledge to fight AIDS. That's an important fight and I'll call Gates' gesture generous. But, I can't help but wonder if he even realizes how it looks from this side of the fence." And I didn't even realize that we were dealing with "a largely manufactured AIDS 'crises'." (Don't they mean "crisis" and not "crises?")

Hollywood persuades Norway to prosecute kid for viewing own DVD. "Said Cindy Cohn, the EFF Legal Director: 'Jon owned the DVDs and he's never been accused of copyright infringement or assisting in copyright infringement. He's facing criminal charges for taking the necessary steps to view his own DVDs on his own computers.'" [via Generic | Synthetic]

Jenny, The Shifted Librarian: "I'm all over Daypop and Blogdex, but I haven't heard of Popdex: The website popularity index before. It looks like it's just getting off the ground, with XML feeds to follow at a later date. No "about" page. Something to check back in on someday."
The site added an "about" page since Jenny mentioned it... looks interesting. Seeing a little traffic today coming from Popdex sure got me interested... ;~)
Update: Popdex also has a blog (says that Jenny was the first site ever to link to it). Here's their feed.
