This article says "Trent Lott would probably not be in trouble were it not for one-man Web sites called blogs, which whipped up a national controversy over comments the mainstream media had dismissed as a minor gaffe." Yet, it says absolutely nothing to substantiate it, in my opinion.
It's one thing to say that the blogosphere was talking about it. It's quite another to give the blogosphere credit for Lott's fate, as if the contoversy did not exist offline as well, at the same time. Blogs are, indeed, changing the world. But the collective ego of the blogosphere seems to distort the facts sometimes. Can't we just stop trying to sell the concept of blogs for a while. please? [link via Blogging Alone]
