Major Flash 6 Player bug - detailed description here at Actionscript.com: "A major bug has been found in the Flash 6 player which effects all Flash movies using streaming features ... The problem lies within terminating downloads executed by loadMovie, and loadSound in the new Flash 6 player."

This is a major bug that's been reported extensively. Macromedia are aware of the problem and are working on it  (check the FlashKit thread for the MM feedback) Hopefully this has been caught early enough not to effect MX takeup, but it's a pretty serious QA slip.

New 3D Tool from Discreet

Plasma from Discreet: Discreet are releasing Plasma, a specialised 3D tool for the web (in the same vein as the GMax tool for gaming) with integrated Flash support. Have a look at the site for more details and some example flash files - estimated release date is late May/early June, pricing $650. Very interesting...

3D in Flash - Chapter 2 of the Flash Super Samurai book available for download at Macromedia has a decent introduction to 3D. The PDF covers realtime rendering and the various 3D exporters available. Well worth a look.

Flash Blog re-design - just a quick facelift to get away from the standard Radio theme. Tested it in IE, NS6 and Opera and it looked OK, if there's any problems with the design on your system, leave a comment with the details.

Where's HTML in MX?

Where's HTML in MX? - ."HTML isn't going away. Period. End of discussion. Short of the sun going nova, can any reasonable person believe anything else? "

This article by John Dowdell at Macromedia is a pretty even handed response to various criticisms flying around the net after the MX launch (I get a mention as well, thanks John!) Reading the more virulent responses it does strike me as weird that people are implying Macromedia are forcing people to use Flash - Macromedia aren't Microsoft, they simply don't have the power to force a product on the net community. If you don't like their tools, don't use them. There are plenty of alternatives out there.
