QUOTE FOR THE DAY
"You can't set a fox to watching the chickens just because he has a lot of
experience in the hen house."

Harken! Hallibuton! Enron! Worldcom! Merck! Who's next?
My Dad was a capitalist. He was a WW2 medaled hero who believed in the
American dream powered by good old American business smarts mixed with long
hours and hard work. He'd be ashamed of what these greedy corporate CEO's
and their cronies have been and still are doing in the good name of
capitalism.
Everyone knows. The shrub wears no clothes.
President Bush says he's getting tough on corporate fraud. But look at
the record: Bush played a key role at Harken Energy -- they used Enron
style accounting to hide losses... Bush sold out early.
The Bush team? Dick Cheney was CEO of Halliburton... more Enron-style
accounting. And the guy running the SEC, Harvey Pitt... he's the
accounting industry's top lawyer.
Bush thinks tough talk can hide the record. Yet his administration
has done nothing to hold Enron accountable in the seven months since
that scandal broke. We simply can't count on this group to get to the
bottom of corporate piracy and restore public trust.

The Bush administration has dropped the ball. It's now up to Congress
to independently investigate corporate abuses, ensure adequate oversight,
and make sure the criminals do some time.
Public confidence will not be restored until the government plays its
proper role in ensuring a level playing field. And some CEOs will
continue to break the rules unless there are real consequences, beyond
the usual wrist-slapping fines.
It's time to jail the criminals. Join me in calling for action at:
