QUOTE OF THE DAY
"When I was Secretary of Defense, my biggest problem was with the Congress
of the United States. Now that I'm chairman and CEO of a Fortune 500
company, my biggest problem is the Congress of the United States."
- - Dick Cheney, at the Export-Import Bank Conference, May 8, 1997.

First off, if you didn't catch HBO's new one up "Robin Williams Live On
Broadway" last night, check your HBO listings and see it. He does his usual
freight train style coverage of Shrub, Cheney, terrorists, religious
fundamentalists, The Catholic Church, antidepressents, viagra, etc etc. My
opinion, Robin is a national treasure.
For more humor on serious topics, check out yesterday's N.Y.Times for
Maureen Dowd's column entitled, "Rub-a-Dub in the Hot Tub" envisioning
Cheney & Rumsfeld dealing with Shrub & the emerging corporate scandals.
But seriously folks, can the ever emotionless Big Dick Cheney keep most of
the people thinking he's the common sense trustworthy elder we should be
grateful for having at the helm of the nation? Or will the truth be
distributed and known widely? Thanks to MoveOn.org for the following
tidbits:
During his five years as CEO of Halliburton, Dick Cheney nearly doubled the
size of Halliburton's government contracts, totaling $2.3 BILLION. He
convinced the Export-Import Bank of the U.S. to lend Halliburton and various
oil companies another $1.5 BILLION, backed by U.S. taxpayers. As exposed in
the article below, some of these loans went to a Russian company with ties
to drug dealing and organized crime.

Cheney claimed he supported U.S. sanctions on Iraq, but the Financial Times
of London reported that through foreign subsidiaries and affiliates,
Halliburton became the biggest oil contractor for Iraq, selling more than
$73 million in goods and services to Saddam Hussein's regime.
