QUOTE OF THE DAY
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
- - Albert Einstein
RHINO HERE: Articles and essays on the politricks of the threatened war with Iraq are flying into my email box faster than I can keep up. I've provided a sampling below with the corresponding web addresses so you can read the ones that interest you. It's obvious that informed public opinion is against starting this war. I fear Shrub & Company have already made up their minds driven largely by oil greed, but also now by a desire to wag the dog away from the corporate scandals that are eventually sure to bite most of them in their butts. Every day another member of Shrub's inner circle is outed for their financial rip offs. A latest one was EPA Administrator and former New Jersey Governor Christie Whitman.

...No other country offers such untapped oilfields whose exploitation could lessen tensions over the Western presence in Saudi Arabia.

The U.S. war on Iraq has never ended. More than one million civilians have died as a direct result of the overwhelming sanctions imposed on the country at the end of the Gulf War. Meanwhile, U.S. jets continue to bomb on an average of twice a week. See the excellent Iraq Issues webpage of the (Palo Alto, CA) Peninsula Peace and Justice Center:

Documents of the Defense Intelligence Agency proving beyond a doubt that, contrary to the Geneva Convention, the U.S. government intentionally used sanctions against Iraq to degrade the country's water supply after the Gulf War. The United States knew the cost that civilian Iraqis, mostly children, would pay, and it went ahead anyway.

"...This month U.S. policy will kill 4,500 children under the age of 5 in Iraq, according to UN studies, just as it did last month and the month before that, all the way back to 1991. Since the end of the Gulf War, at least hundreds of thousands -- maybe more than 1 million -- Iraqis have died as a direct result of the UN sanctions on Iraq, which are a direct result of U.S. policy. This is not foreign policy -- it is sanctioned mass-murder that is nearing holocaust proportions...."
