QUOTE OF THE DAY
"The force of public opinion cannot be resisted when permitted freely to be expressed. The agitation it produces must be submitted to." - - Thomas Jefferson
RHINO HERE: If anyone tends to be nervous on Fridays the 13th, maybe this time they'll rest a bit easier given we had a quiet Wednesday the 9/11th.
Recently, the federal government paid over 100 million dollars to 2 oil companies to buy back drilling leases off the coast of Florida for which those companies had paid approximately 1/10th that amount. Some have accused shrub & co of making this arrangement to quell the environmental outcry in the sunshine state, thereby buying the upcoming Gubernatorial election for brother Jeb.
Meanwhile, plans proceed to drill on 36 undeveloped leases off California's spectacular Point Conception coastline, between Big Sur and Santa Barbara, home to sea otters, migrating whales, and lush intertidal marine life.
Florida's republican Congress people claim the difference is that a larger percentage of Florida's total revenues come from their beaches. This elephant/dinosaur mentality is reminiscent of the famous Ronald Reaganism, "If you've seen one Redwood, you've seen them all."
Below are 2 quick actions you can take to work for a better environment; one to call your senator about the proposed California coastal oil drilling, and the other to call and tell your Congressperson to take the unnecessary gas guzzling out of their current energy bill.
