QUOTE OF THE DAY
"No man made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." - - Edmund Burke
RHINO HERE: A million and a half people were in the streets yesterday protesting shrub & co's proposed war. But that wasn't in the U.S., it was in Italy! Here in the U.S. tens of thousands were out in most major cities and smaller amounts in the smaller cities. Meanwhile, everyone wonders who's behind the shootings outside Washington D.C.?
This Saturday is what's traditionally celebrated here in the U.S. as Columbus Day. Since 1992, 500 years since the landing of the Nina, The Pinta and the Santa Maria, Indigenous people here in North America have been protesting the celebration. In many of their opinions, 1491 was the last good year. So many people are now celebrating October 12 as Indigenous Peoples Day. Anybody see last weeks Sopranos where a bunch of Tony's gang were so pissed at the Indians for trying to stop the Columbus Day Parade, that they started a brawl, but the Indians kicked ass and the mob boys got arrested.
I've been fortunate to be the curator of the first Nationally broadcast, regularly scheduled TV series concerning Indigenous peoples of the world. It's called First People's TV and airs Thursday nights across the continent, on the WorldLink TV Network, available on either Direct TV (CH#375) or Dish Network (CH# 9410)
This week, celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day, WorldLink will be airing 3 programs from the First People's TV series, one as usual on Thursday, and 2 more on Saturday and Sunday. Descriptions of the programs are posted below. Each one airs several times so check the schedule at the network web site.
