QUOTE OF THE DAY
"Any religion that connects violence to God loses me, whether it's the murder of a doctor at an abortion clinic or busboys, police officers and firefighters in the World Trade Center" - - Tim Robbins (At Sunday's Peace Rally in New York City)
RHINO HERE: 1.5 million protesters Sunday in Italy. 500 thousand in London. Tens of thousands in each of many cities around the U.S. Polls for or against the war going against. Think any of that will sway shrub & company. Not.
So I'll admit shrub's speech was a good one. Good for doing what it was designed for — selling the product... uh, I mean war. Nary a Bushism. But from my perspective, it was what wasn't said in the speech that matters:
— He didn't say how much money it would cost. Hundreds of millions of dollars? Hundreds of billions maybe? What if we spent those hundreds of whatever on food clothing and shelter and education for the poor of the world. I believe that would be a more effective way to fight terrorism.
— He didn't say how long it's expected that U.S. troops will have to stay and maintain order after the War. Remember when Clinton was considering action in Kosovo and the Repubs kept challenging him with, "What the exit strategy? and How long will we be caught up in this?" Who's asking those questions now?
— He didn't say — and this is the most important — how many American youths the Pentagon has predicted will lose their lives, and you can bet they have their predictions. In some circles, that's called premeditated random mass murder, and for what? To make Iraq safe for the oil industry just like Major General Smedley Butler made Central America safe for United Fruit Corp.
Below find Ariana's latest column focusing on that last item. How many American deaths are expected? Wonder if he announced that prediction, what would happen to the polls.
Today I called Hillary Clinton's office and told the staffer that I assume Hillary intends to run for President in 2008, and that I'm guessing she think she needs to show she's tough enough to be Commander in Chief and so she maybe better vote FOR shrub's war. So I told him to tell her that this 5th generation Democrat will never vote for her for anything ever if she votes for this blank check war resolution. I urge you to do the same.
