Handspring stock soars on 'Treo' debut [IDG InfoWorld] This is good news for people like me who have been wondering if the darned thing was going to roll out in the US or not. Also, since it has GSM, when I travel to Europe, I can keep in touch and continue using my same phone.
I was especially excited by the concept of this phone as a means to allow users to SMS each other, plus, of course, games. I love the Blackberry, but felt that it was adding to the (theoretical) communications utility belt that I would need to have the level of connectivity I wanted. Now, the pager, phone, and organizer are all one device, and keeping in touch is a snap.
I am waiting for the color version (due this summer) and hopefully it will be out in time for our vacation. Now the phone can also hold onto my maps (via mapquest) so I can figure out where I am as well as where I am going.
