Microdots used to track items, reduce theft [Geeknews] Originally from Wired
Tiny dots that are the size of grains of sand are used to tag products with thousands of id numbers. The dots are visible under UV light, so that thieves know they are there. This makes it near impossible to traffic in stolen goods, for now, as the parts that would normally be chopped and resold are marked quite clearly. Insurance companies are dropping their premiums by as much as 10% for autos that have been tagged thus.
