LCD monitors cost more (for now). Panel beaters [The Register]

Bummer. I was planning on getting an LCD for my new system. My Dad beat me to it two years ago now when he bought an LCD with his desktop system. I think maybe what I'll do is wait a bit and then get a projector for my second monitor instead. The price point is about the same, and I'll then be able to alternate between running my main screen as something HUGE and either running a movie or playing games. Combine that with a good surround sound system and I may never leave the office! I blame Jerry for mentioning this.

Providence Mayor Fights Web Site. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Mayor Vincent A. Cianci Jr. says a Web site developer can be as critical as he wants, but he can't use Cianci's name to do it. By The Associated Press. [New York Times: Technology]

The critic is cybersquatting, using the mayors name for the url of the site that criticizes him.  All in all, I think the Mayor has the right postion: Say what ever you want about me, just don't use my name as the web address.

Ready, set, relax: Harried citizens in Jersey town take a night off [USA Today : Front Page]

The absurdity of this astounds me, and I live in Northern NJ! That an entire town had to have a series of meetings to schedule a weekly family night off, rather than a single family (or group thereof) deciding to opt out of the non-stop gogogo culture that permiates this area is amazing. Are people that concerned with others opinions of them and the whole treadmill of "keeping up with the Jones's" that they can't see that this way lies madness?
