Well, I finally am able to get online from Lake Villa Illinois (ostensibly a suburb of Chicago but it's actually closer to Wisconsin...) I actually signed up for MSN just so I could get a local access number to connect to the internet with. It looks like Radio actually works over a dial-up connection.
Our vacation started out somewhat eventfully with a power outage in the north terminal of Seatac airoport. That delayed our departure about an hour. The flight over was pretty much uneventful except for a greater than normal amount of turbulance (I noticed the woman sitting next to me had her hands folded and was praying...).
After we arrived at O'Hare we went outside the terminal to wait for the shuttle bus to take us to the Dollar rent a car pickup location. Then we got into our Dodge Intrepid (an interesting name for a car that will have to carry us around on our vacation...) and drove an hour up to my wife's sister's house which will be the base of operations for this Chicagoland vacation.
After we got settled, we went to my sister-in-law and her husband's new Thai restaraunt. (BTW, if you're ever in the Grayslake Illinois area do yourself a favor and visit Lovely Thai Restaraunt. The food is great!) I asked my sister-in-law's husband what the most popular appetizer was and he told me it was a dish called "Lovely Balls" (I'm not making this up...) So last night I had Lovely Balls. They actually were quite good.
We stayed after closing and talked until about 3am about the joys and heartaches of running a restaraunt. It made me appreciate my job quite a bit.
