This Third Generation of Iranians is quite different from its counterpart in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is a country getting younger, poorer, more Islamic and more anti-American — as young Saudis react against what they consider a corrupt, irreligious, pro-American regime. Iran is a country getting younger, poorer, less Islamic and less anti-American — as young Iranians react against an anti-American theocracy, isolating them from the world.
Interesting counter-trends -- the country we call our ally is actually the biggest breeding ground for terrorism, its very 'friendship' with America being a prime mover of anti-American animus, while the country we call part of the 'axis of evil' is actually closer than any other Muslim country to 1) a functioning democracy, 2) judicial system and 3) middle-class supporting economy, as well as to giving the fundamentalism theocracy the boot.
Do you think we may have our allies and enemies upside down here?
Or is it that Halliburton and the big oil companies just have more contracts with SA than with Iran. See, if we'd just stop buying those damn Navigators and Ford Extrusions, we wouldn't be in this mess.
