O2 Ireland has done a 'soft launch' (such a weird term, but basically, it means a very low-key launch and in this case, a no-PR launch!) of a phoneblogging service, which uses the Foneblog product from Dublin's Newbay Software. The product generated a lot of interest at Europe and US shows earlier this year and I believe was the first commercial phoneblogging product out there. You can trial it for free for a month, then it's €2.50/monthly. You can MMS or SMS your blog entries in.

More SCO from the Guardian's OnLine blog: Who really owns Unix?. "The answer is not as simple as it appears, because while SCO got the code, the trademark and spec are owned by an industry consortium, The Open Group, as explained here. (There's a little more on The Open Group's lawsuit against Apple here.) It's not obvious but Allen Brown is CEO of The Open Group." [onlineblog.com]

I.B.M.'s Opponent in Suit Criticizes Linux Advocate. In a new court document, the SCO Group criticizes Linus Torvalds, the guardian of the freely shared Linux operating system. [New York Times: Technology]:
"As I.B.M. executives know," the filing states, "a significant flaw of Linux is the inability and/or unwillingness of the Linux process manager, Linus Torvalds, to identify the intellectual property origins of contributed source code that comes in from those many different software developers."
"If source code is copied from protected Unix code," the SCO document adds, "there is no way for Linus Torvalds to identify that fact."
