First, it helps to have interesting articles.  Second, it doesn't hurt to shorten the submission/publication cycle (hint: the Internet is useful for this step).  Here is an example: Duke Journals - Law and Contemporary Problems - Vol 66.

Is pretty easy to do, but coming up with a fresh method is tough.  Don Novello's Lazlo Letters employed the technique of contrived letters from a rabidly adoring fan sent to celebrities and political figures.  Now we have Ali G, whose ruse is to obtain interviews with serious people--who believe him to be another cloying member of the mainstream press--and then proceeding to ask them innane questions.  Maureen Dowd apparently liked his interview of James Baker.

I just got an E-mail from someone who said that CNN has issued a warning about a new "worst ever" virus.  Microsoft supposedly classified it as "worst ever" and supposedly it caused a panic yesterday in New York.

The E-mail has other "significant information," including the claim that McAfee "discovered" the virus.

A picture named CNN virus news.jpgSo, unlike the person who sent the E-mail, I checked CNN to see if this is true.  Over here on the right are the leading Internet news stories on CNN.  And nothing much seems to be shaking over at the McAfee site other than this low level alert.

Note, however, that CNN is reporting that "experts [are] warn[ing] that spam could ruin e-mail."  Yeah, no kidding?

Sometimes spam comes in the form of an "information virus" that attacks the human mind.  This form of spam/virus comes from well-meaning good samaratins who have figured out how to use the Internet to spread information, but haven't figured out how to use it to verify information.

Humans are really good at thinking.  We use thinking for a lot of things, but one of the best things we use it for is to solve problems.  Why aren't we better at solving problems?  Why is it that some solutions, which were missed for years, seem so obvious in retrospect?  Maybe we humans don't understand as much as we should about how we process information.

Chad Williamson is working on a tool called Blawg Search, a search engine and aggregator for law-related weblogs.   As I understand it the database is being populated with XML/RSS feeds from certain legal weblogs starting as of about a week ago.   So the searching will cover only what's been posted since that point.   I should mention that it's still in Beta.  However, I tried it out and it seems impressive, and no doubt will increase in value as more legal bloggers join the fray.
