John Robb: "If you had complete control over a browser connected to Radio, what would you add to it that would improve the experience?" [Scripting News] This has been a very helpful conversation where the consumers are producers in the value creation process on the internet. Something like this is one of the items in the cluetrain manifesto. sure wish I had spell check and I bet both of my readers do also.

The world brain.

Both the assembling and the distribution of knowledge in the world at present are extremely ineffective, and thinkers of the forward-looking type whose ideas we are now considering, are beginning to realize that the most hopeful line for the development of our racial intelligence lies rather in the direction of creating a new world organ for the collection, indexing, summarizing and release of knowledge, than in any further tinkering with the highly conservative and resistant university system, local, national and traditional in texture, which already exists.

These innovators, who may be dreamers today, but who hope to become very active organizers tomorrow, project a unified, if not a centralized, world organ to "pull the mind of the world together", which will be not so much a rival to the universities, as a supplementary and co-ordinating addition to their educational activities - on a planetary scale.

These are not my words. English writer H.G. Wells wrote them in 1937 in a piece called World Brain: The Idea of a Permanent World Encyclopaedia. I think I like it even better than Vannevar Bush's As We May Think.

[Seb's Open Research] Ok Seb got me this time I truely thought this was a seb post untill he gave it away. hmmm

Wouldn't it be interesting to have an RSS variant (new name obviously) for subscribing to personal contact data off of weblogs?  Name, weblog name, weblog location, physical address (or as much as you want to provide), spam free e-mail account location, IM link to username, location of RSS feed, Bio info, bio pic, resume, etc.  To a large extent this would replace my bookmark and e-mail contact list.  I truly think that weblogs are starting to become global 24x7 business cards.  This would help me collect them. [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

I am also finding that my blog is like my first introduction to people I meet. It has proven to be a very effective platform for communicating the very sublte points that often get dropped in other media communications.
