Communities of interest come together Where nodes are weblogs and links are links circles do form (or communities of interest) but the cohesion coefficients in the web generally and more specifically in web logs indicate that in a very short time the dense connectedness unites the circles to form one well connected digital media knowledge space. Next is a nice thought from seb, in addition to encouraging openness and honesty they help cultivate two other skills with very positive externalities that extend beyond the members of the networks. This is good indicator of social capital. The social norms forming inside have benefits to non members. That will allow for future cooperation between members and non members and thus puts a positive growth coefficient on the network size. Seb continues . . .
"This is perhaps the most revolutionary aspect of weblogging from a "knowledge input management" point of view. Developing skill at selecting sources, in order to make the best use of one's limited perceptual bandwidth, is quickly becoming critical for making sense of what's really happening in our complex world. Two keywords for building a good neighborhood are diversity and quality. The corresponding skills one has to cultivate are open-mindedness and critical thinking."[Seb's Open Research]
