Trust Networks..

Ross Mayfield blogs a pretty useful S+B article on social networks. 9 networks:

  1. Trust
  2. Advice
  3. Communication
  4. Work
  5. Social
  6. Innovation
  7. Expert Knowledge
  8. Career Guidance and Strategy
  9. Learning

And:

  • They run in parallel.
  • They affect each other.
  • There are patterns of emphasis among them.
  • State transitions (evolution of emphasis) are predictable and can be influenced.

I need to read the original article and work my way back to original sources.

Wow that's impressive.

Tara Grubb ends up with 11.19% of the Vote

The first congressional candidate with a weblog exceeds the total percentage polled in the 2000 election by a write-in Democrat and the last Libertarian to face Coble (total 9%). Grubb had no money and no presence when she launched the weblog in August. She never posed a serious threat to the nine-term incumbent, but she dared to try something new and it sustained her in an insurgency campaign. Was this the lightning bolt some hoped for when Grubb started blogging? Of course not. Was it an incremental step forward? I think so. Props to Tara for putting herself out there, and for being true to herself.

Holy shit.  Ed Cone is reporting that Tara Grubb, the first candidate to run a campaign direct to the people via the Internet, is getting double digits (with 27% of districts reporting).  If she only had some money there would have been a chance to...  I personally donated $20, but I am sure not many other people did (she was too much of a longshot).  This is very encouraging.  Being directly connected matters.

Here is Slate's handicap on Wired candidates and how to tell whether being online matters.  We can already see from Tara's early numbers that it DOES. [John Robb's Radio Weblog]
