Ugh....
I have the flu. sigh...
It was a gorgeous day today and all I could do was move from the bed to the chair - except for an emergency run to CompUSA with Peter. His computer died (the hard drive wouldn't spin up) and needed to go into the shop....
And of course, today is the day the painters showed up to paint the outside of the Partnow Manse. So, not only did I spend the day in bed, but I spent the day in bed in a hermetically sealed house - all the windows are covered in visqueen. A hermetically sealed house can become quite hot on a sunny day.

As, I type, Peter is across the room avidly watching, of all things, the Tampa Bay - Oakland Webcast and chanting, "Let's go Devil Rays." Yes, Red Sox fever is rampant here at Chez Ski Boy et Slat Rat and the fever results in all sorts of deviant behavior. For example:
- Rooting for the Devil Rays and other marginal teams. You see, if the Devil Rays beat Oakland, Oakland's win loss edge over the Red Sox is narrowed. And if the post season race comes down to a battle for the Wild Card, the Red Sox will be up against either Seattle or Oakland. So we always root for both Seattle and Oakland to lose. Except if either team is playing the Yankees.
- Reveling in the Red Sox's thumping of the Yankees. For example, Peter has been all over this little bit of history (from today's NY Times):
The Red Sox eclipsed their previous most-lopsided shutout win in New York, a 10-0 victory on April 23, 1919, in the season opener. That was the same season Ruth led the Red Sox in homers and RBIs, and before the Yankees were known as the Bronx Bombers -- that loss came at the old Polo Grounds, across the Harlem River in Manhattan.
- Peter has a nervous breakdown every time Byung-Hyun-Kim comes into pitch. After the season is over, Peter will need extensive therapy.
- Booking a business trip to coincide with the Red Sox's last series of the year in Tampa Bay.
I think I may need to temporarily decamp if the Red Sox actually make it into the World Series.
