Government Hill Neighborhood Picnic
Great fun was had by all this afternoon at our Government Hill picnic. Of course, this being Alaska, a picnic wouldn't be a picnic if there wasn't some sort of rude weather component - in this case, wind and cold. We're experiencing a Siberian High - which means brilliant blue skies (yea!) and chilly temperatures - it was 35 degrees F this morning. And if you toss in a strong wind, well, total brrrr....
However, we all had a great time. I was on the organizing committee and we really worked hard. But you know how it is when you throw a party - will anyone actually show up? Well, our little event succeeded beyond our wildest expectations. We probably had 150 people. Wow! This was really a positive collaboration between the neighborhood and its industrial neighbors.

Note how bundled up I am. However, I discovered that the fire truck's cab was warm so it was tough to dislodge me...
