What was I saying? Right, Future Bible Heroes. Whenever I hear Claudia Gonson sing “I’m a Vampire” on my whatever I have playing it, I keep trying to imagine her doing it with aplomb—that is, without cracking up onstage. She does that sometimes. The song calls for an unrepentant glam-banger of a she-vamp, and I’m not sure she could pull it off onstage, with a Freddy Mercury-like presence rather than a barely-suppressed (if that!) smirk.

I really must stop going to dinner with Matthew. I want to be sociable and all, especially besieged* as we are, or can feel out here, but he’s the kind of person who likes expensive dinners with small portions in trendy locations, and I don’t have an expense account. Yet.
Or it could be that he’s paranoid, which is feeding into my (well-known) paranoia. I never quite sussed that out.

Kids: searching for analyses and interpretations of poems online is not honest, nor will it ever get to the true experience of poetry. Really, read the poem in question and feel. Describe what you’re feeling. Add an introduction about who you are and what you think about life that may relate to the poem. Try to determine what about the language contributed to each of your feelings. For you older folks, write about how none of it means anything anyway in the semiotic stew where signifiers are dissociated from their referents by the innocuous but invidious action of the class system and homogenizing hegemonic forces of the white male...
