At the last BABB, Jim over at Objectionable Content posted several best-of links in order to give people a chance to know what he was about, get an idea of the flavor of his blog. I would like to do that, but I’m lazy. Just browse. 10:36:17 PM # comment [] |
My Keychain (an Apple security LDAP, I think. I don’t know how it’s implemented.) has been acting up, with entries that can’t be edited and others that don’t populate Mail.app fields. This technote seems to be the answer, by way of Mac OS X Hints. 10:31:31 PM # comment [] |
Oh, the depths...Week-old birthday chocolate cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. For dinner. I can see Matt wincing even now. Luckily he’s in Berlin. I scarfed it from the baggie in which I put it before leaving home, using a plastic fork from the cafeteria. Not, I think, the best idea I have ever had. A plastic Tupperware bucket would have been just the thing. I forgot to bring the books I was reading this weekend. My second attempt at a straight-through reading of the Hazarski recnik in the original Serbian. (Right. Fancy a bridge?) Stevermer: I can’t believe I haven’t finished this wisp yet. Dark Beyond the Stars. Benjamin. Speaking of that work, Pavic tells a parable in the intro picturing the author and the reader as two people leashing a panther at bay with two ropes, playing tug of war to ensure it does not get either, forever holding a tension between them. The first time I read that I thought to myself, “...and then comes the critic, bearing a knife.” Fruit punch. That’ll kill my sorrows. Having torn apart the sandwich baggy to get at the chocolate, I crumpled it into a ball with hotel stationery and tossed it into the hallway trash. No need to traumatize the housekeeping staff.
Oh, the humanity. |
