Another article saying Sun/Java don't "do" web services. Where does this come from? The kind of web services you need -- you know, the fast, scalable, implementable, portable ones -- have been possible to write in the Java world for ages. [gtb]

A great report in the Economist: "Tens of millions of Japanese consumers routinely use tiny phones with vivid colour screens to send and receive e-mail, download cartoons and consult weather reports."
This seems to support Sun's strategy of aggressively pushing Java to mobile devices. You cannot underestimate the power of so many devices in the hands of so many people. [gtb]

Some clients have been asking about "DRDos" Internet attacks.
It is a "Distributed Reflection Denial of Service" attack, and a summary of how it works is documented at Steve Gibsons site.
These attacks seem to be new this year, and are interesting in that they use the high speed routers at the heart of the internet to drown a site under traffic. As with most bandwidth denial of services you have to rely on your ISP filtering out the traffic before it gets to you and clogs your pitiful T1 connection. [dj]
