Two people called me today asking my opinion about nutrition and Asperger's/Autism. Put simply, I see no connection. I know that Rimland in San Diego has been talking about Vitamin B6, but I can't see the scientific support for this assertion...this doesn't mean that I wouldn't consider giving Vitamin B6 to an autistic child, but I've yet to see empirical support for doing so. For now, the genetic/brain issue seems to overpower any arguments about nutritional deficiencies actually causing autism. I'll ponder this subject in greater detail some other time.
