Label Death Throes Steven Levy: Labels to Net Radio: Die Now. [Scripting News]
Tasty Newsweek story on MSNBC about how the recording industry killed Internet radio.
While you're reading it, remember that the businesses that bought this legislation make money by manufacturing physical copies of songs. They aren't artists, they aren't producers. Public Comment (Not Really) Wanted DRM Meeting. [ShareMe News]
Also from Cryptome via a story on BSDVault, and a Slashdot story with some decent member comments. Fred Grott wrote to point out that even though the document invites public comment prior to the workshop, the site it points to doesn't appear to have a comment form of any kind. Can you find it? It's like Easter Egg hunting on Easter morning!
The public workshop is business as usual. Language like "technical standards that provide the framework necessary to enable legitimate digital media distribution," makes it sound like they've made up their minds about DRM, doesn't it?
Well, the announcement says that "anyone wishing to comment on these or raise related issues is free to do so." In lieu of an official online comment form, how about sending an email to the Technology Administration Office of Public Affairs: Public.Affairs@ta.doc.gov?
